From the Garden State Parkway North, Exit 148, Bloomfield Ave. Stay in left lane of exit ramp through the first traffic light, take jug-handle under Garden State Parkway back to Bloomfield Ave. – turn right (west) at light. Proceed on Bloomfield Ave. for 2.5 miles through Bloomfield, Glen Ridge, and Montclair town centers. Turn right at North Mountain Ave. (Montclair Art Museum on left). Proceed through one traffic light (Claremont Ave.) and take the next left onto Van Vleck St. – Van Vleck House & Gardens is on the left.

From the Garden State Parkway South, Exit 148, Bloomfield Ave. Follow service road through one stop sign and two traffic lights (paralleling Garden State Parkway) to Bloomfield Ave. Turn right (west) at third light onto Bloomfield Ave. Proceed as above.

From Route 280, Exit 8B, Prospect Ave. Proceed north 2 miles to Bloomfield Ave. Turn right onto Bloomfield Ave. and proceed 0.5 miles to third traffic light (Montclair Art Museum on right). Turn left onto North Mountain Ave. Proceed through one traffic light (Claremont Ave.) and take the next left onto Van Vleck St. – Van Vleck House & Gardens is on the left.

From New York City, take Lincoln Tunnel to Route 3 West. Exit at Grove St., Montclair. Turn left at top of exit ramp onto Grove St. and proceed 3.9 miles to Claremont Ave. Turn right onto Claremont Ave. and proceed 0.9 miles to the fifth traffic light. Turn right onto North Mountain Ave. Take the next left onto Van Vleck St. – Van Vleck House & Gardens is on the left.

From New York City by bus, from Port Authority Bus Terminal take DeCamp Bus Lines #33 getting off at North Mountain Ave., Montclair. Walk north on North Mountain Ave. about 1/3 mile to Van Vleck St. and turn left. Van Vleck House & Gardens is on the left.
